About the Role:

The Supply Chain Planning Manager leads the Demand Planning and Supply Planning processes for all Nipro branded products stocked in the 3PL network and for custom or branded products shipped direct to distributor and/or end customer accounts. This role supports all three Nipro business units: Renal, Vascular and Med-Surg. The Supply Chain Planning Manager has the ultimate objective of mitigating risk to our business by developing and implementing strategies with Nipro factories and suppliers to ensure timely and continuous supply of quality products and materials. This role will have both management-level and hands-on responsibility for planning, purchasing, capacity and inventory.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage Supply Chain team members including Buyer/Planners responsible for demand and supply planning, purchasing, capacity management and inventory management.
  • Drive simplification, standardization, and consistency of the SAP-based planning processes and related governance across the Nipro functional teams.
  • Provide overall leadership for cross-functional teams to ensure effective management and continuous performance improvement of Nipro factories and key external suppliers.
  • Lead and coordinate efforts to ensure successful and timely resolution of critical supply issues.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Sales/Marketing teams to determine and manage appropriate inventory levels based on forecasted demand and production capacities.
  • Support and lead the development of dashboards/prototypes/tools and reports as needed to improve forecasting, planning and inventory management processes.
  • Provide support and leadership to Product Development/R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Sales & Marketing on all product lifecycle issues, including new product introduction, design changes and product end-of-life issues.
  • Support negotiations and manage compliance of supply agreements with key external suppliers.
  • Provide management and oversight of key supply chain projects designed to drive continuous process and system improvement, reduce cost and to improve service objectives.
  • Lead Supply Chain optimization efforts such as planning strategy, SKU rationalization, space and network planning, supplier performance, change management, etc.
  • Interface with internal supplier quality teams to ensure appropriate controls are followed through supplier evaluation, approval, and performance monitoring processes.
  • Provide oversight to internal inventory management and reconciliation processes as well as communication and management of inventory related processes with 3PL partner.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate activities in support of global supply chain strategy. Interface with global affiliates to minimize business risk and ensure timely customer delivery.
  • Manage product backorder and communicate product availability with Operations, Sales and Marketing.
  • Interface with Finance team to ensure appropriate inventory/financial controls are in place.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage Supply Chain team members including Buyer/Planners (2 direct reports) responsible for demand and supply planning, purchasing, capacity management and inventory management.
Travel Required:
  • Limited travel may be required
Education & Certification Requirements:
  • 7-10 years of related experience in a medical device design, manufacturing and distribution environment or 5-7 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • The candidate for this position will have several years of proven experience in Purchasing and Supplier Management in a “Lean” operations environment.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of Quality System Regulations and ISO 13485.
Experience & Required Skills:
  • The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of supply chain management, strategic sourcing, inventory management, and contract law.
  • The successful candidate will also have strong negotiation skills, excellent teamwork/facilitations skills, and effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have exceptional analytical skills to analyze and interpret complex business situations.
  • Must have experience with implementation and evolution of ERP systems (preferably SAP).
  • Must have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of the latest supply chain management techniques and familiarity with Lean Sigma.
  • Experience with statistical forecasting techniques, best-fit forecast tools, algorithms and software is a plus.
  • Experience with global ocean shipping, importation and Inco terms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations is a plus.
  • Experience and proven experience and effectiveness in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Must have excellent organizational and project management skills to be able to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively and be able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft, Excel, Word and other PC applications.
